Hanson provided construction management for a comprehensive gut renovation of a 6,500-square-foot Philadelphia town house and creation of a new outdoor courtyard with mechanical storage. Basement excavation lowered the interior floor by two feet to create a high-end custom kitchen on that level. The three upper floors retained only their floor joists, with all new interior configurations and ceiling heights in excess of 12 feet. The scope involved dismantling and relocating three chimneys, preservation and restoration of the original staircase, and retrofitting all new glazing and weather-stripping in the original double-hung casement windows. Finish details included custom door hardware and Venetian plaster wall treatments.
