Gladwyne Artview Passive House

This new 7,375-SF residence is Hanson’s second certified Passive House. Every component – from walls, floors, and roof assemblies to foundation walls – was prefabricated off-site. Passive House features include geothermal and solar energy and an emphasis on healthy materials, indoor air quality, energy efficiency, embodied carbon, and ease of maintenance.

The home captures the owner's personality, commitment to the environment, and passion for art and cutting-edge architecture. Natural materials, from stone and Japanese plaster to Shou Sugi Ban charred wood, are juxtaposed with mild steel, a cost-effective alternative to Cor-Ten. Spaces highlight an impressive art collection and provide dramatic landscape views. Custom millwork, a secret speakeasy and a sculptural steel stair highlight the integrated architecture and interior design. Hanson provided construction management for an extensive team of specialty craftspeople who achieved the home’s beautiful balance of art, science, and nature.
