We also believe that historic preservation and green building are closely linked. In many cases, the greenest building is the one already built. We look for opportunities to reduce waste and create value through a combination of adaptive reuse of existing materials and implementation of energy efficient technologies. Since 2013, Hanson has been a Passive House Institute-US (PHIUS) Certified Builder. We’ve implemented Passive House principles into homes old and new, and we have built homes that have achieved Net Zero.
